Many people require financial assistance in today’s economic times. There are many Government Grants available for different purposes.
How to Apply For Grants
The first step is to research grants that best suit your Organizations needs. Then you should review what the requirements are for that specific grant. Ensure you write a tailored application for each individual grant. You would then review your application with the application requirements and then submit it.
National Grants
Some of the funding programs available at the Federal level are:
- ACBF
The ACBF is primarily designed to assist Aboriginal organizations across Canada. This enables them under the Species at Risk Act, helps the Aboriginal communities to participate in conservation and recovery of these specified species. The species at risk are identified by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada.
- CMHC
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation – Shelter Enhancement Program provides assistance by providing funding for upgrading an repairing of shelters that already exist. This program also provides financial assistance in the buying and construction on new ones. CMHC also provides support for housing that is classed as the second stage for domestic violence victims.
- Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency-Participant Funding Program
This program provides financial assistance to nonprofit organizations and individuals who would like to become involved in environmental assessments.
- Charities Partnership and Outreach Program
This Federal Agency offers to fund to nonprofit organizations and registered charities that serve the charitable sector in Canada. The project must be designed to improve Canada. The project should deliver programs in the education category that are based on compliance. Programs must also increase the capacity of sections applicable to charity. EcoAction Community Funding Program
The EcoAction Community Funding Program provides financial assistance to nonprofit, community-based organizations. The projects must have measurable, positive impacts on the environment. The projects should be based on rehabilitating, protecting, or enhancing the natural environment.
Provincial Funding
Aside from the Federal funding, there are often funding opportunities that are offered by the different provinces such as:
- Heritage Legacy Fund (British Columbia)
Registered charities, nonprofit organizations, and local governments can receive funding for projects that increase the understanding or conserve British Columbia heritage resources.
- Northern Development Initiative Trust (Prince George BC)
This funding program supports municipalities, First Nations Groups, regional districts, nonprofit organizations, and public authorities. These group must initiate programs which support sustainable economic development in the northern and central region of B.C.
- Nunavut Department of Culture, Language, Elders, and Youth
This program provides financial assistance to community-based, nonprofit organizations and individuals. Funds are given to those who have a project or idea that relates to the preservation andéor promotion of the culture, heritage, language, culture or amateur sports in Nunavut.
- Gaming Grants
In British Columbia, Canada, there are Government Gaming grants for eligible organizations. These grants help support many services and programs.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada: Inter-Action Multiculturalism Grants
This type of grant is in support of socio-economic integration of people and communities. This is funded under the Canadian Multiculturalism Act. Two areas of funding are available. One is for projects, and one is for events.
